Dr Brian Todd is a highly experienced Ophthalmic Surgeon who has been practicing in Cairns since 2006. He trained as an Ophthalmic Surgeon in Queensland to attain his Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (FRANZCO) in 2004, with Fellowship training in complex cataract and glaucoma surgery at the Birmingham Eye Surgery, UK in 2005-2006. He is a Senior Lecturer at James Cook University and Visiting Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Cairns Base Hospital.
Dr Todd is a comprehensive ophthalmologist and covers all aspects of general ophthalmology. He has a special interest in Cataract Surgery utilising premium multifocal and mono focal lens, the treatment of Macular Degeneration, Pterygium Surgery, Oculoplastic Surgery and the management of Glaucoma with both surgery and laser.
Dr Todd operates on his private patients at Cairns Private Hospital Day Surgery Unit, but is able to provide subsidised cataract surgery with premium intraocular lenses with no waiting list for uninsured patients at the Cairns Hospital.
Dr Todd conducts regular clinics since 2011 at his equipped Atherton Hospital Facility on the Tablelands with a particular emphasis on management of Macular Degeneration with intravitreal injection therapy (Eyelea/Lucentis), Cataract assessment for surgery and postoperative follow up and glaucoma management.
